YardApes Representin’ West Coast-Style
Charity Starts at Home

We used our annual YardApes picnic at Clatter Valley as a platform to help Isauro who recently underwent emergency surgery. He won’t be back to work for a few more weeks. He is surely missed. Roberto arranged the raffle that was a great success. Here he is with Elaine drawing tickets for lucky winners.

YardApes Wins Some New Hardware
The YardApes Swanson Horrigan Memorial Tournament team went 5-0 this last weekend. Saturday we came back from an 8-0 deficit to win 9-8 against the 8’s that always knock us out in the Showalter Tourney. The championship game was against Daly Express Mart—a scrappy team from the Woodbury league. We won in five innings, 26-11. Everyone played well with Howie Ziperstein as our stand out, pitching all five games! Thanks to all the guys who participated and thanks to Mike Douskey for rounding up some fine players for a worthy cause.
Mr. Newman Goes to Washington
Shayne will be in Washington, DC in a few weeks in support of PLANET’s (Professional Landcare Network) Renewal and Remembrance efforts at Arlington National Cemetery. Green industry companies from across the country spend the day mulching, pruning, planting, and aerating the soil, and last year more than 400 volunteers participated.
Our YardApes founder and president is the newly appointed Chair of PLANET’s Public Relations Committee.
YardApes Softball Team Back on Track
Friday night the YardApes softball team improved its record to 5 wins-9 losses. We’ve faced some serious competition since being bumped up to A Division. Next up: Chemero Group on Tuesday 7/13 at 6pm at Young’s Field.
