YardApes supports local military families through Project EverGreen

April 9, 2007. YardApes,  Inc. is participating in “GreenCare for Troops in the New Milford area. “GreenCare for Troops” is a nationwide outreach program initiated by Project EverGreen that connects participating local lawn and landscape firms with families of the men and women away from home serving our country in the armed forces.

In announcing the new program, Shayne Newman said, “Lawn and landscape maintenance becomes a definite hardship when a family’s major breadwinner is on active duty away from home. The “GreenCare for Troops” program seeks to ease this stress by helping affected families with the important task of caring for their yard and landscape.” Read More »

PLANET ANNOUNCES GRADUATE OF OSHA 10-HOUR COURSE

HERNDON, Va., January 2, 2007 –– The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announced today that Greg Malmberg of YardApes, Inc. in New Milford, passed the OSHA 10-hour Course given at PLANET’s 2006 Green Industry Conference (GIC). The OSHA course, sponsored by CNA and hosted by Gary Clevenger, CSP, CRIS, STS, covered general health and training safety for professionals who work on lawn maintenance or landscaping sites. Greg Malmberg passed and displayed an understanding of OSHA standards, inspections training requirements, and the citation process, and was issued OSHA 10-hour cards from the OSHA Training Institute. PLANET ANNOUNCES NEWLY CERTIFIED EXTERIOR LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN

HERNDON, Va., November 30, 2006 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announced today that Roberto Angulo, CLT, of YardApes, Inc. in New Milford, CT, passed the Certified Landscape Technician (Exterior) exam.  The test was offered through the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association.

This daylong, “hands-on” test challenges the candidate to use mental and physical ability under time constraints.  Candidates must pass all the Common Core problems as well as the challenges in a selected specialty area such as Installation, Maintenance, or Irrigation.  Shayne Newman completed the Maintenance  module.

Local Landscape Company donates $10,000 to MVPSOS Charity

New Milford, CT. September 27, 2006. The first annual Quad-Am Golf Classic Sponsered by YardApes, Inc. was held on July 31st at The Club at River Oaks in Sherman, Connecticut. Run entirely by volunteers, the tournament raised $10,000 primarily through sponsorships and donations from local businesses and residents. With 120 golfers in attendance, raffle ticket sales and a live auction added to the success of the event.

Shayne Newman, founder and President of YardApes, Inc. decided to give back to the community that has supported his business for nearly 20 years.  To show his appreciation, the YardApes Charity Fund was founded.

PLANET ANNOUNCES NEWLY CERTIFIED LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONAL

HERNDON, Va., March 1, 2006 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announced today that Shayne Newman, CLP, of YardApes, Inc. in New Milford, CT., passed the Certified Landscape Professional exam.  The test was offered through the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association.

To achieve the CLP designation, a candidate must master a body of material on all aspects of running a landscape business. The four-hour exam is divided into seven sections: Risk, Law, and Contracts; Human Resources; Production/Operation and Horticulture; Marketing; Leadership; Strategic Planning; and Corporate Financial Management.
